Meet Our Pastor

Reverened Jonathan Davis, Pastor

Reverend Jonathan Davis was born in Barlow Bend, Alabama, to Josephine Davis and the late Isaac Davis, Jr.  There, he graduated from Jackson High School and went on to serve seven years in the United States Air Force.  He received an honorable discharge as a Sergeant in 1989, and became employed with State Farm where he worked in various jobs during his 14 years of service.  In 2003, Reverend Davis resigned his position to pursue ministry and complete Seminary.

Reverend Davis was called to the ministry in 1996 while at Quinn Chapel AME Church where he was licensed to preach in January 1999.  He was ordained an Itinerate Deacon at the April 26, 2003, Annual Conference.  He received his final ordination as an Itinerate Elder on April 15, 2005, at the Washington Annual Conference held at Ebenezer AME Church in Ft. Washington, MD.  He served for ten years on the Ministerial Staff at Quinn Chapel AME Church in Frederick, MD, under the leadership of his mentor and father in ministry, Pastor Luke J. Robinson.  He served in various ministries while at Quinn Chapel such as Youth Minister, and Prison Ministry Coordinator.  On November 4, 2006, Reverend Davis was appointed Pastor of Mt. Zion AME Church in Knoxville, MD, where he served faithfully for 10 years.  On April 22, 2017, at the 67th Session of The Washington Annual Conference, Reverend Jonathan Davis was appointed Pastor of Saint Mark AME Church located in Oxon Hill, MD where he now serves as Senior Pastor.

Reverend Davis is a May 2005 Graduate of the Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg with a Master of Divinity Degree where he received honors in Ministerial Practice.  Reverend Davis worked as an Admissions Associate with Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg until October 2009. Reverend Davis then was employed at Frederick County Public School System where he was employed until 2019; where he served as a Math/Reading Interventionist, and Student Support Teacher.  He is a devoted husband to his wife Ida, and a dedicated father to his children: daughters, Sabrina, Brianna, Josephine, and son Jonathan.  He hopes that you see him just as a man of God striving to do what the Lord would have him to do.  He believes that we all should “Press Toward the Mark” as stated in Philippians 3:14.
